Logan Daisy Felix arrived on June 7, at 5:14 pm. She weighed 8 lbs. 5 ounces, and was 19 inches long. She and Mommy are doing great. She came fast with curls and refusing to cry (which caused a tense moment). She is sweet.

I know it has been a while since the last post, but this definitely merited posting. I am lucky to have not only a beautiful and amazing wife, but 3 adorable daughters.

A good game, not the ending I was hoping for...

So April and I left the BYU/Utah game content, April was happy the Y won and I couldn't complain, it was a good game after all. When we got home and heard about the comments made by Mr. classy, which put a bad taste in our mouths. I then jokingly said to April that I should make this shirt, to which she said, "yeah that would be funny." April helped me make two of these shirts for me and for my friend Doug, which we proudly wore to the Utah-Michigan basketball game. They were a hit.

We were sitting a couple of rows behind these clowns.

So five years ago on November 19th, I became the luckiest guy around when April said Yes to have (put up with...) me for Eternity. I am truly grateful for her love and support these past five years.

For our anniversary this year, April wanted to plan it all out. She arranged for us to stay up at Wolf Creek up in Ogden Canyon for two nights (thanks Elena). On the 19th, we went to dinner overlooking the SLC Temple and then went to the Temple and then we drove up to Eden. The next day we just watched movies and lounged until we drove up Brigham City and ate at Maddox Ranch House (best filet mignons in the west). Then we went up to the Utah St. vs. #6 Boise St. game. (She was a little embarrassed/worried because I was chanting "Overrated" and "Mountain West's 4th place team" to Boise St. when we were surrounded by orange clad fans. It made if fun that I had no stake in the game and I could annoy the Boise fans).

It was a good weekend to have to ourselves. I am a lucky guy to have such a wonderful wife and mother to my daughters. (Yes, we were both very excited to get home to see them after it was all said and done).

Thanks April for the best 5 years of my life.

So a couple of weeks ago, April and Morgan went out to visit Grandma Rowe in Pittsburgh with Aunt Holly and McKylin. April was very excited to see her mom, even though it would be the longest she had ever been away from Camryn. Holly was doing the Ohio St. v. Penn St. game and April and McKylin got sideline passes. Babies aren't allowed on the field, so Grandma had Morgan up in the stands. April loved the trip, even though Morgan wouldn't sleep on the plane or at Grandma's. April loved her time with Grandma, Mac and Holly.

Ever since Camryn was very little, she has loved "Where the Wild Things Are." Morgan is warming up to it, but Camryn has always loved reading that book, for her it ranks up there with "Go Dog Go" and "Mr. Brown Can Moo." We aren't sure when she first started saying the Wild Things phrase, but she has done it for a while.

Here she is with her Aunt Amanda telling her about all the things the Wild Things do. She is a smart little wild thing.

Speaking of "Where The Wild Things Are," April and I went to see the movie when it first came out. We both grew up loving the book (in fact I still have my very well worn copy from when I was just a little guy). It would be hard to say that we "liked" the movie although we did, it wasn't what we were expecting at all. It was very real... at least the emotions of each wild thing. We loved it, and yet... it left us wishing it would have done more. It was hard not to get wrapped up in the feelings of the Wild Things, so I guess it was well done. Not a kids movie, but a light hearted and heavy hearted movie.

For Halloween this year, Camryn was a cute little cow and Morgan was a cute little pig (I guess "Morgie Moo" maybe should have been the cow, but...). The girls and April were cute and April was patient with me as I went to the U of U blackout game Halloween night. Camryn and Morgan loved trick-or-treating. In fact Morgan got so into knocking on the doors that she fell when one of the doors opened because she was knocking so hard!

So this video is from September (it was too big to upload to blogger, so I had to go through youtube unfortunately), Morgan has decided to walk, she doesn't do it all the time yet, but more and more each day. She is a cutie. Camryn, in case you couldn't tell, is quite the singer... well she loves singing anyway. The girls are so sweet together and love to hug each other and cuddle together (even though Camryn's attempts to help/love Morgan end up like they did in the video sometimes). They are cute together.

It is hard to say which of the seasons is best for the Alpine Loop, there is something to be said about springtime when the mountain comes back to life or about the ferns growing under all the quaking aspens in the summer, but the mountain seems to explode in the fall. It was fun to drive it and have Camryn get excited about the colors she could see.

So my friend Steve Leavitt and I decided to make a quick run down to Capitol Reef a couple of weeks ago. We took the Burr Trail just outside Boulder and drove across the Strike Valley and the Waterpocket Fold. It was a beautiful drive that I highly recommend. The rabbit brush was a spectacular yellow and we had the place to ourselves. We hiked a couple of slot canyons. It was quick, dusty and good. A classic Steve Leavitt trip.

Here is a load of pictures to recap the busy last couple of weeks of summer. With daddy being gone all summer, we tried to make up for it in the last few weeks. We went to the Bountiful parade with Aunt Amanda, Uncle Daniel, McKylin, Mommy's friend Maura with her two kids Amara and Shareef.
Camryn is growing up, now she is in a toddler bed, although I think she spends more time sleeping on the floor by her door...
We were able to catch the last day of the Oquirrh Temple Open House, which was great because we had been mistakenly told that we couldn't take kids to the Draper Temple open house and we were very excited to take the girls. They loved it and Camryn has talked about wanting to go to the Temple ever since.
Our sister-in-law Sara told us about the Salt Lake Connect Pass, which enabled us to go to all these great places in Salt Lake for $20.00 each adult. The catch was, you had only 2 consecutive days to do it. We got to go to great places like the Hogle Zoo, Red Butte Gardens, The Museum of Natural History, Discovery Gateway's Children's Museum, Tracy Aviary, Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur Museum, This is the Place Heritage Park and even included a meal at the Lion House. It was great and it was really fun to watch the girls enjoy each place and see their eyes as they discovered new things. It was exhausting, but really fun. It was also neat to take the girls to their Great Great Great Great Grandpa Heber C. Kimball's home at This is the Place, where I got to show them how he lived and also the work on the house that Nate and I did when it was being built. Well this has been a long post, but I am sure Grandma Rowe and Aunt Jen will love it.

As part of making up for Dad being gone over half the summer, we went camping three times in the last couple weeks of summer. First we went to Strawberry Lake, it was Morgan's first campout and between her crying, Camryn's not being tired and the white trash loud music drinking party close to us, it made for a long night.

We then went to Capitol Reef. Morgan and Camryn loved seeing the deer in the campground. When it got dark, the stars put on a show as we all laid on a blanket watching the shooting stars before going to bed. It could have been a rough night too, had Aunt Amanda not brought her Ipod, so that Camryn could listen to Moon River and had daddy not taken Morgan on a little drive to put her to sleep.

The last camping trip was just Daddy, Camryn and Mikey Persson. We went to Great Basin National Park. We didn't get in until late and there was a huge wind storm that made it impossible to set up the tent, so the three of us squeezed into the back of Forester. The next morning we took a beautiful drive and hiked a really cool trail up in the Wheeler Peak area that put Camryn hiking above 10,000 feet for the first time. We wandered through an ancient Bristlecone forest and Camryn felt obligated to hug, touch or ride almost everyone of them. It is a beautiful area.

My Patriotic Girls!

Well another week has gone by with Daddy up in Logan. Last weekend was the 4th of July and the girls all showed their Patriotism all day long. During the week Daddy rode his bike (and barely made it) the 1850 foot vertical climb to the Jardine Juniper up Logan Canyon (the trail is better suited to hiking, it is only 5.4 miles up, but very rocky and a constant climb). The tree is over 1500 years old (although the sign up there says older than 3200 years, the core sample said 1500, either way it is an old tree). Saturday, we took Camryn and Morgan, along with Grandma, Aunt Rachel, Aunt Kim and cousins Mariah and Peter to The Living Planet Aquarium. It was fun to see Camryn and Morgan so excited about the sea life. It was also cute to see Mariah and Peter lift Camryn and point things out to her. It was a cousing filled week for the girls as April and the girls spent the week in St. George with Kynner and Rob's family and Holly and McKylin. Daddy only has one more week up at Utah State, which is good because it is killing him every time Camryn says "When daddy goes to school, Camryn is sad, Camryn cries." Daddy definitely owes his girls some time...

So Camryn has been missing her Dad. So the two of us went camping last weekend to try out the new tent April got me. It poured on us all night, but luckily, Camryn loves camping. When we got home, we got cleaned up and went to the zoo, with the Davidsons. Camryn love the giraffes, monkeys and elephants. Morgan just liked grunting at the animals...I think there was definitely some communication going on there. Finally, if April ever needed to replace me for a family picture, I think we found our guy in the previous pictures... at least Camryn was mesmerized by him. All in all, a great weekend with April and my girls...

So for Spring Break we decided to visit Grandma Rowe in Pittsburgh, PA on her mission for April's Birthday (yes that is 30, by the way, love you Apes). It was Camryn and Morgan's first flight. They did really well, Camryn was very excited to fly. We got in Saturday afternoon. Sunday, we went to Church for Easter. It was a nice, small ward. Monday we toured Pittsburgh, going on the Duquesne Incline and to the Children's Museum (where they had a cool Mr. Rogers set up). We also had Permanti's Pittsburgh sandwiches for lunch (not that good, I don't like coleslaw). On Tuesday, we drove to Washington DC, by way of Shenandoah National Park. It was foggy and we couldn't see much, but it was still very pretty. While in DC, it poured one day and was beautiful the next. We visited the National Museum of Natural History and the Art Museum. That night April and I went to the DC Temple, I have only seen it in the day time before... it was amazing at night. The next day we walked the National Mall, seeing the Abraham Lincoln Memorial and the other memorials. We then went to the Holocaust Museum... it is really sad what we can lower ourselves to as humans...

We then went back to Pittsburgh and on Friday we drove up to Kirtland. We stopped at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. When we saw the Cuyahoga River, Camryn asked me if it was the "moon river wider than a mile?" I said no, then she asked "can we cross it in style?" My little girl loves Moon River. Cuyahoga (and Shenandoah) were beautiful, even though spring hasn't completely come around... I imagine both are spectacular in their summer green and their fall colors. Now I can sing along to REM's Cuyahoga and know that "this is where we walked... take a picture here, take a souvenir... Cuyahoga...

Kirtland was really nice. Camryn was not in the mood for another musuem like tour at the Kirtland Temple, so she and I stayed out in the entry as to not disturb the tour (I have already toured it a few years back, so I was ok with my impatient little diddle). The Church has built a lot since I was there six years ago and the sites have a great spirit about them. It was really neat to be there. Also, there was this bronze Christ sculptures exhibit that was really neat...

A great trip all in all.

Spring, news and a little cow...

It was nice to have spring a couple of weeks ago...

So just a couple of updates: I just found out that I was accepted into Utah State's administrative program. I will take 18 credit hours this summer (which means, I will probably have to move up to Logan for 6 weeks this summer and visit April and the girls on the weekends (yeah, it makes me a little sick to think about it), but it will be good to get the bulk of my class work done that quickly.

My 9th grade girls basketball season ended. I was actually quite suprised at how much I enjoyed being the assistant coach. I really enjoyed helping the girls learn the sport, but more importantly gain self confidence and self esteem. It was neat to see them grow.

Last week was Student Led Conferences at my school (it is a better version of parent teacher conferences that involves the student). So, after getting home just in time to put the girls to bed Tuesday night, the next morning Camryn woke up before I left (she never wakes that early) and started calling for daddy. Well, I couldn't resist... but she would cry everytime I tried to put her back in her crib or hand her off to April. After a while of me holding her, she finally said "How bout mommy go to work and daddy stay here... yeah mommy go to work, daddy here." How do you leave a little girl who has decided to change your career?

Grandma Rowe is loving her mission in Pittsburgh, she even caught a little of the Steelers' Fever! They made all of the missionaries return to their apartments early that night cause, I don't think anyone wouldn't be watching "THE GAME".

So, not much happens here at our house, so we'll show you our only trip out of the house recently! To Daddy's school! We gave him a Valentine's surprise a day early cause Jr. High kids just eat that kind of cheesy stuff up!

Mommy had the hardest time and still misses them A LOT, and we have to find something to entice Uncle Aaron to come and visit now, but it was the right decision, no matter how hard it was...and still is:(

Well, it has been a while since we posted... some have said it has been too long, so here is a post to catch us all up. First, Grandma Rowe left on her Mission to Pittsburgh. While she was in the MTC, they let her stay with us, instead of down there. It was nice having Grandma around (especially for helping with the girls). Camryn is a good little helper, even shoveling snow!!!

Christmas was great... Camryn was so excited by her new kitchen that she just stared at it for a minute, not daring to go up and touch it. She loved all her presents. Morgan was cute, but was more into watching Camryn open everything!

The last picture is a cool shot April took of our girls witnessing history. I wish I could have got one of my students as we watched the inauguration. Still, it is neat that our girls got to watch see it happen and that April caught the moment. Before the inauguration coverage began, I showed my student a video clip of Martin Luther King Jr. saying that he thought that within 25 to 40 years there could be a black president. Whether or not Obama becomes a good president, April and I are glad we voted for him.

Four Years of April

This past week on November 19, April and I celebrated the day I became the luckiest guy on earth. Four years ago April was crazy enough to marry me. It is amazing to think back to getting to know her down in the Andes mountains and the Ecuadorian Rainforest as students with the University of Utah (thank goodness we had stubborn professors that decided to send us both when only one student was supposed to go). April is the most amazing person I have ever met. She is so strong, so kind, so wise and stunningly beautiful. For the past four years I have had the privilage of spending everyday with her and I feel so blessed to call her my beloved wife. She has given me two beautiful daughters and has had faith in me and most of all, I am grateful for her love. Thank you my sweet Apes, these have been the best four years of my life and I am blessed to have you for eternity.

Well, the time has come that we need to part ways with our cute little dogs. It is too much to have two young babies and two dogs. Annie and Chip are awesome and very loving dogs. They are house broken and generally good with kids (Annie gets a little nervous) and Chip is calm as can be with kids (he doesn't get mad when Camryn sits on him). We don't completely want to get rid of them, but we feel it is time... To make this easier on us, we want them to go together to a family we can trust. If you know a family that is looking for two well behaved little dogs, please let us know. Annie is 6 and Chip is 5, they have been together for 4 years or so (which is why we don't want to split them up). We love them. Once again, let us know if you know anyone that would want two mini dachsunds.

Yesterday, Morgan came home. Camryn was excited because Morgan brought her a present, a toy farm! Camryn was so happy she tried to play with Morgan (using Morgan's hair as a pasture for her horse). Morgan slept in her room last night, but Mommy and Daddy had forgotten how much crying a newborn does at night, fortunately it didn't wake Camryn.

So, baby Morgan came today!!! She was born at 6:34 pm. She weighed 7 lbs and 11 ounces. She is 19 inches long. She has dark hair and dark eyes. Morgan and mommy are doing great and had a great delivery. Camryn was mesmerized by her new baby sister (and maybe a little jealous when dad was holding Morgan). Another visit to St. George...

We went down to St. George this past week for our nephew Brighton's Baptism. He was so excited for it and it was neat to see him do it, April's sister Kyndel gave a nice talk that all the kids seemed to like. Camryn's cousin Landen wanted to play with Camryn more than he ever has, it was cute to watch. I was supposed to hike the Subway in Zion with my friend Steve Leavitt, but the day before there had been a flash flood and there was a 50% chance of rain the day we were supposed to do it. We were still going to go, but as we were about to start a park ranger pulled up and strongly advised us not to go. So we went to the main canyon instead, and of course, it didn't rain all day. Zion Canyon is definitely better than just a consolation prize. We hiked Angel's Landing and up Pine Creek a ways. It wasn't the Subway, but it was still Zion. Fun trip all in all.

Camryn enjoyed her first baseball game as we took in a Bee's game. It was a good time in the grass in the outfield. It was fun to go with Uncle Aaron and Aunt Amanda. A beautiful sunset made the night even better.

It was a busy week for our little Camryn... She went to her first basketball game during the Rocky Mountain Revue where she got to cheer for the Jazz and for Jaycee Carroll who played for the Nets. Then on Wednesday, we went to the Bountiful Parade where she waved her little American Flag and she got an owl doll given to her by one of the floats! On pioneer day we went to Devil's Kitchen in Payson Canyon and enjoyed a picnic. Then on Friday and Saturday, she went with Daddy and Uncle Aaron to Dinosaur National Monument. It was the longest she had ever been away from her Mommy, but she sure loved playing in the dirt, seeing lizards, hiking along the Green River and pretending to be a paleontologist in the hot eastern Utah desert. She, as well as Daddy, were disappointed that they didn't get to go down to Echo Park, but at least they got to see it from an overlook. She sure had fun with Uncle Aaron and Daddy.

Last week we visited Zion National Park. We hiked up the back end of the Pine Creek hike until we reached that small waterfall. The last picture is the beginning of the Pine Creek hike from up above the tunnels. It was a fun couple of easy hikes and Camryn liked playing in the water.

A July 4th visit to Cascade Springs

On July 4th we took a drive up the canyon to Cascade Springs. Camryn thought it was beautiful and the water cold. It is starting to look better up there as the landscape continues to recover from the fire a few years ago.

My time in the Jordan District has come to an end. I will now be teaching at Lakeridge Jr. High in the Alpine District. Sunset Ridge Middle School was the perfect place for me. I loved the teachers I worked with and my great students. I am grateful for what I learned while I was there. I am excited for a new opportunity at Lakeridge. The video may be boring, but I thought some of you might want to see what my classroom looked like. Not bad, eh?

So a couple of weeks back, my dad said that the way Camryn looks right now is how he remembers me looking as a baby. When Camryn was born Mom gave me some of my old outfits that she had saved, this is one of them, there is a picture of me as a baby wearing this, that unfortunately for Camryn, does look really similar to me as a little guy. Poor kid, I do have to say, she is a lot better looking version of me... Since it is father's day, I have to thank April and Camryn for breakfast, a book called "Daddy is Great" to read with Camryn, a bookshelf and a father's day card that plays Johnny Cash's "Burning Ring of Fire." It is good to be a dad!

So, Camryn got a new car seat and bike trailer! She really likes facing forward and seeing mommy and daddy up front, but at her 1 year checkup, the doctor said she still doesn't weigh enough to sit in a forward facing seat... I guess we gave her a tease of the freedom or view she could have... also, the bike helmet doesn't really work that well in a bike trailer, it is too big for her head (it is a size 1 even) and the back of the trailer forces her head forward (by the end of her first real ride we took the helmet off so she could sit up straight). We think she enjoyed her first bike ride (part of it put her to sleep though).

Camryn went camping for the first time last weekend. She slept through the night (yes!, she must be a camper!!!) We went camping with Uncle Nate and Aunt Kara and Camryn's cousins Braxton, Mitchell, Andrew and Elizabeth and Uncle Aaron. In the morning we went to Goblin Valley (Camryn's cousins loved it there). Then we hiked Little Wild Horse Canyon in the San Rafael Swell. (My little girl has tasted the swell's slot canyons!) Then we drove the 4x4 road Little Wild Horse Creek to Capitol Reef passing through the volcanic ash desert moonscape and then we discovered all of these fossilized shells (seen in the picture). Then we went and spent a little time in Capitol Reef N.P. and headed home. Camryn loves being outside and Daddy thinks she is growing quite fond of Capitol Reef (which is just fine with Daddy).

In Memory of Del Barton Rowe

Grandpa Del Barton Rowe died peacefully this morning at around 8:00 am surrounded by his children. He lived a full life and influenced many lives for 72 years. He was loved by his children and grandchildren. He gave Camryn and daddy the greatest gift he possibly could have by allowing his beautiful daughter to marry daddy and later become Camryn's amazing mommy. We will be forever grateful to him for allowing our family to begin.

Well it was Camryn's first Easter. Here she is in her Easter dress that Grandma Rowe gave her and getting some more Easter gifts at Grandma Rowe's house. The next couple of pictures are from Pipe Spring National Monument in northern Arizona (it is an old Mormon cattle ranch on the Kaibab Piaute Reservation). As you can see, she loves eating Dad's hats. The video is Camryn's first swim... she sure loves water... one cute little fish!!!

So April and I both had Friday off last week, so Camryn decided it was high time we took her to Capitol Reef to feel the sun on her cheeks and see some Navajo Sandstone contrasting with the Red Rocks. Camryn loves hiking and was dancing in her backpack because she was so excited to be out in the fresh air and wandering through the slot canyons. After a day in Capitol Reef, we visited Grandma in St. George (Camryn liked the 72 degrees down there).

Camryn and her Mommy, Daddy and Grandma Rowe celebrated her first Christmas today!!! Camryn was so excited and loved opening presents and trying to eat the wrapping paper. Yum, Yum. She loved her Christmas Eve pajamas! She liked all of her gifts on Christmas including her new cell phone! She was sure cute to watch this morning.

We can't believe that we've had our little angel for three months now! She's growing so fast, at her two month appointment she was 11 lbs. 6 oz. and 23.5 inches long! This month she has turned into a world-class infant boxer, gone hiking in Zion for the first time, slept through the night, rolled over, learned to blow bubbles, played with toys for the first time and discovered a love for college football!!
(That's what she and her daddy are doing in the picture, I guess she is our baby!!)
She is developing such a cute personality as well as some chubby cheeks!

Sweet little Camryn had her baby blessing today at church. She didn't even cry! Her Grandpa Felix, Grandpa Rowe, Great-Uncle Wayne, Uncle Josh, Uncle Rob, Uncle Damon, 2nd cousin Dave Maughan, Mike Burton, Mike Persson and Bishop Mortensen were part of the blessing. She had lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, and people who love her there (as well as many who couldn't be there, but were thinking of her. :) She is one amazing girl.
